Back in the Saddle

It has been quite a while since I've written a blog entry... life sometimes just gets in the way, but changes are in the air...

The Farmers Market that I've been involved with for the past 2 years is no longer supporting artisans and I've had to find a new market to associate myself with.  I will now be a vendor with the Legacy Farmers Market. They are a weekly market on Saturdays and Sundays. This will work out even better as I can coordinate market days with my daughters swim club meet schedule. I hope to attend this coming Sunday if the weather cooperates.

I've joined Periscope which is an extension or addition to the Twitter app.  It allows the user to video themselves while you are able to watch in real time.  Soon I'll be doing short scopes from my studio but right now it's one thing at a time. You can follow scopes and give hearts by tapping the screen. It's a really neat app. The other day I was able to watch a orchestra in a park in Paris France, all live!

I've also recorded and uploaded my first video to YouTube, with the help of my middle daughter Rebecca, of me throwing a bowl on the potters wheel.  It can be found here on my channel. I was nervous and did not speak but did add a nice instrumental to go with it.

Nothing like waiting to the last minute to cross off a couple annual goals I set for myself in January!

Here are a few photos of work in progress;

May 30, 2015

It feels just G R E A T to have my work back in a brick and mortar store again.  I am now showing my work in The Mad Crafter Gift Shop here in town. It will be filled with local San Antonian artisans.  What a new gem for our city.

Yay!!!  The shop opens June 1st. Wish me luck!!

Until next time...

Porcelain Handbuilding

What a great day at the studio... couldn't ask for better weather... mid 80's, no humidity... just me, a few bags of partially opened bags of clay, great tunes and my little studio helper - Zeus!

I found some porcelain and thought I would do a little Porcelain Handbuilding and make a few ring holders or trinket dishes.
I love this one with the initials and a heart between. Very romantic. They will be stunning left unglazed. I love the opaqueness of the porcelain.
This was a left over bag of Buffalo Wallow.  I love this clay. When fired it is a toasted tan color. This is my favorite clay. I love the color and it's faboo to throw with.
A few sponge holders finished up the open bag of white stoneware.  I incorporated my leaf cutouts as I do with my Garlic Keepers. They will make  a great addition to the collection.

Until next time... Peace and light!

Gardening at the Studio

Good Morning!!

The weather here in San Antonio Texas is getting warmer and warmer while the rest of the country is blanketed in snow, ice and freezing temperatures.

Taking advantage of our mild temperatures this past weekend the Hubby and I did a little pre-spring clean-up and gardening at the studio.

Raised Beds
We cleaned out all the raised beds and with our overnight temps in the 40's we started our "winter" garden.

Cold Frame
In our raised cold frame we planted onion sets, lettuce and spinach. This raised bed fits perfectly over the pool equipment.

I also started my seeds in my Back Door Kitchen Herb Garden... Basil, Mint, Oregano, Chives, Lavender and Mint. My handmade Herb Markers look great! Dill and Sage will be added this coming weekend as again our temps will be in the mid to high 70's. I just hope Jack Frost is done with us!
